Post from Tiffany

Over the past 6 1/2 weeks the Lord has been constantly reminding me of His faithfulness.  He has brought various verses or songs to mind as a constant reminder to cling to His promises:

“You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God, you do not faint you won’t grow weary.  You’re the defender of the weak, you comfort those in need, you lift us up on wings like eagles.”

Kev’s knee seems to be making some progress, slowly but surely.  It looks like he may actually be taken off of the antibiotics this weekend after a 6 week course of treatment.  We’re praying that after he is off of the antibiotics for a while his stomach won’t bother him so much.  Please continue to pray for a quick and complete healing of his knee.  Humanly speaking, it doesn’t appear that it will be closed by the time we go home, but we serve a God who can make the “impossible”, possible.  It would be a huge blessing to not have to worry about changing the dressing and potentially dealing with any additional infections once we leave here.

We were able to get another day pass last Sunday and Kev was up in his chair for about 7 hours.  We’re still learning the best ways of manuevering around, but overall, Kev did great with his transfers in and out of the car.  Getting out of the hospital for a few hours can be nice, however emotionally it’s a lot harder on Kev as the reality begins to set in and we realize even more how many things we won’t be able to participate in, what places we won’t be able to go to since his chair won’t fit and how many things will need to be adapted.  Even conversations can be challenging since he can no longer be at eye level with the people he’s talking to.

Kev was measured for his chair on Monday, however we have put the order on hold for now as God totally used a friend to bless us with a chair that may work for Kev – at least for the time being, so he’s going to try it out and then we’ll decide where to go from there.

We wanted to extend a HUGE thank you again to all of the people that worked so hard to get the condo all put together.  From extremely generous financial donations, to the countless hours that so many of you volunteered to vacuum up the water, bring in fans, pack up our extremely messy house (4th of July weekend was supposed to be the cleaning weekend – which still happenend, I just wasn’t planning on everyone else cleaning it for me), move furniture, scrape off the laminant/glue, paint/install the baseboard, etc. we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.  I know the jobs weren’t always enjoyable, but thanks again for serving with a cheerful heart.

Visit Update

Sorry for the late notice, but Kevin and Tiffany have a couple important things that they need to take care of this week so they are asking for no visitors tonight August 19th and Friday August 21st.  The lone exception is for the families assigned to meals; please conitnue to bring the meals  for the Mathers on those two days.

Thank you for understanding and your cooperation.
