Letter from Tiffany

The following is a letter written by Tiffany that she would like shared with you all:
“This morning Kev asked for me at 2 a.m. His vitals are getting stronger and more consistent. He kept asking me throughout the early morning what the plan was today, when any type of physical treatment would start, etc. I explained again that so far the doctors want to be cautious with his spine and need to let the swelling go down before they would be able to start physical therapy. But I definitely was encouraged to see him already so motivated to try to do something to regain feeling and motion.
Please continue to pray as we know we serve a faithful, compassionate, and loving God. Kev did seem to get a fair amount of sleep last night and says his pain levels are okay, but seems a bit more discouraged today. Every time they do a sensory test the results differ slightly- at this point he seems to have some sense of pressure in his upper thighs, but actual feeling seems to end in his lower abdomen.
His neurosurgeon was just here to check the wound and change the dressing. She said the wound looks great-they seem a bit concerned about the fluid build up, so they have changed his bed position and discussed potentially putting in a drain depending on how he does over the next few days.
I feel very confident in his neurosurgeon, she has been incredible and went over the entire surgery in detail and explained everything she did and why while showing me his x-rays and CT scans. He lost 7 liters of blood (average body holds 5.5 liters) all trauma related and had 3 anesthesiologists. They did another CT scan yesterday and the neurosurgeon seemed very pleased with the results and confirmed the decompression is gone.
I also was told that they will send a social worker in at some point to discuss rehab options, etc.
We have been absolutely blown away by the love and support and can’t even express how much it means to know so many people are praying. It has truly been astounding to watch God move so quickly by sparing his life, allowing his vitals to remain strong, providing movement in his upper body, protecting his brain, vision, and speech. We can’t thank you enough for your prayers and ask that you would continue to pray for miracles.”
Specific Prayer Requests:
- That we would cling to hope instead of fear
- That God would work a miracle and provide use of his legs
- That I wouldn’t be an emotional mess-don’t do so well when I’m tired-3 hours of sleep so far
- Comfort for Kev and I that we would take our thoughts captive and not freak out about not having much feeling yet.

Our prayers are with you and Kevin constantly. Know that we will be here to the end for support in whatever your needs may be. Kevin was very blessed to have such strong brothers in Christ come to his side the very minute of this tragedy. Know that there is a whole army of brothers and sisters in Christ who are here and will be here for you and Kevin throughout this trial. To this point we are truly amazed at the power and sovernty that God has had in Kevin’s recovery. I am sure that we will continue to see that our God is good. May God continue to bless you and Kevin and may you both feel his peace and comfort throught this trial.

Thanks for sharing Tiffany. I will specifically be praying for you, for peace that passes understanding and for grace and strength to endure. I truly understand the tired=emotional mess thing. On that note, I would suggest Emergen-C. It mixes with water and is truly helpful when you’re feeling drained. Ask someone to get it for you (Target carries it). We don’t want you getting sick during this time. I will now step down from my “mom soapbox” and continue praying for you. You are loved.

Tiffany and Kevin,
(You are a wonderful, supportive, loving wife! I know you know that!) You both are being held before the King of Kings who loves you!
I have put your needs out to people in several states. You are being prayed for multiple times over! I am so proud of your initial responses of faith! You are godly servants of the Most High! As you pray and trust and hope, know that it is okay to feel drained, stressed, and depressed. It does not mean that you are not trusting; it just means you are exhausted, your world has been turned upside down, and you are human. Allow yourselves to be human. God can handle it. Allow yourselves to RELEASE your human emotions, just do it carefully. Tiffany, that means releasing to your mom, and Tiff might be better than to Kevin.

Tiffany,
Thanks for the update. We are here for you for WHATEVER you may need. Keep your hope fixed on Christ who conquered sin and death!!! We serve a MIGHTY God! We’ll be laboring in prayer for hope, strength, comfort, and healing as you specified.
“Now to Him who is able to do IMMEASURABLY MORE than all we ask or IMAGINE, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Remember when we went through the book “The Excellent Wife” and talked about the fear that can come when dealing with something happening to our husbands….who knew? I pray you are comforted and encouraged by what we learned. pg.246 “If you are in an especially difficult situation, seek your comfort and hope from God. He is to be your refuge and your strength. Let Him talk to you through His Word. Spend a lot of time in the book of Psalms. There you will find Psalmists who experienced the same emotions you are feeling. See their thoughts about God and experience the same comfort and hope from God they experienced.”

Tiff…
the amount of prayers you 2 are receiving is enough to move a mountain… I am so proud of you and how strong you have been on the weakest time of your life, and pray that you keep being that rock throughout this road ahead of you. Always remember you have a wonderful support system, and that allows you to break down and be that emotional wreck that you are so afraid to be… then recharge and be Super Tiff again.
I want to put myself here available for ANYTHING you need… My prayers are with you and I am confident in God’s plans and that Kevin will be moving towards full recovery soon.
I LOVE YOU!
Julie

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.” Hebrew 10:23 Tiffany, when an earthquake shatters and rearranges our life – God will work through us the level of hope and faith it takes to endure. When we are empty and wondering the “how can I”…He says, “You can’t, but I can.” Christ within you, will carry you on the path that is before you. Let Kevin know this is a good excuse to get some of my good cooking!

Psalm 34:4 – I sought the Lord and He answered me and delivered me from all of my fears. He will deliver you from the strong grip of fear – it is not from Him. REST!

Tiffany,
We are upholding you both in prayer as are countless others during this very challenging time. Bless the Lord for such a quality hospital and skillful and knowledgeable surgeons and doctors. USC is the best. While Dr.s give a prognosis based on what they see, God is ultimately in charge of the final outcome !!! I have seen some unbelievable things happen with spinal cord injuries first hand. We are believing for complete recovery or certainly more than is projected. God is able. God knows so deeply and thoroughly. He must have trusted you both enough with this trial knowing that the strength of faith and commitment to Him you both have would testify of Gods goodness and faithfulness no matter what. We stand with you , believing and are here for you and your family.

Tiffany and Kevin,
As I was praying, I felt led to include parts of The Prayer of St. Patrick for you.
I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of demons,
From temptations of vices,
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,

Though I don’t know Kevin or the others involved in this accident, I couldn’t help welling up with tears when I read of the outpouring of support from his friends and family.
We’ll pray for Kevin and Tiffany as they begin their recovery together. God bless.

Tiffany & Kevin,
The Silers just want you to know that we have been praying for you since we first heard of the accident. Rick used to road race bicycles so this hits very close to our hearts. We are so grateful for this tool that can keep us praying specifically for your needs. Our thoughts and prayers are also with both of your familes right now…peace and comfort for them, as well.
You are Loved,
Rick and Cynthia

Tiffany & Kevin,
Although I do not know you personally, I used to work for Progressive and saw the link through Meg Jarrell’s facebook posting. After reading the account of what had happened, my heart goes out to you and your family. Although I know it’s easier said than done, the key is to have that faith in God which is sounds like you all do. Just last night, I read Psalm 103:1-14 where David praised God during some of his most troubled times. I hope that little passage helps in this tough time. Just know that we’re praying for you and your family. God bless.

Tiffany, It is so incredible to see how God has used you and Kevin to show His goodness and faithfulness already. Keep trusting in Him! You are all continually in our prayers.

Tiffany,
I am praying, and your brothers and sisters in Christ at Havenhouse are all praying as well. I am so encouraged by all of the progress I’ve read about in these updates, even in just a few short days! I have worked with patients with these types of injuries, and Kevin seems to be recovering remarkably/miraculously well! Reading about your hope and faith has strengthened mine. I am standing with you both in believing and praying for a COMPLETE recovery. I pray that in your weakness God will be strong, and that when you feel discouraged, God will lift up your heads. I will keep up with what is going on, and try to support you both in whatever way I can for as long as it takes.
