Hospital Update

The following information was from Janice Gentry regarding the doctors visit this morning:
The neurosurgeon came in to see Kevin this morning and examined his wound, saying that it was in prestine condition, but that he needs to lay flat for another 24 hours. The bone fragment had cut into the lining of the spinal chord which was why he had some fluid leakage and they were considering putting in a drain yesterday. Laying him flat will ensure that there is no leakage. The doctor’s also removed his cervical collar today. The neurosurgeon said the next step in his recovery would be to filter his blood to prevent clotting, then get him ready to begin rehabilitation.
The goal for rehabilitation is to get Kevin into Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, CA. This rehabilitation center is known for being one of the best spinal cord injury rehabilitation centers in the country. You can check them out at www.rancho.org.
Janice said Kevin was hungry and ready to eat real food this morning, but the doctors said he had to wait until they could move him onto his side!
Specific Prayer Requests:
- That they will be able to get Kevin into Rancho Los Amigos
- For financial support if he does get into Rancho Los Amigos
- Rest for Tiffany, she has had very little sleep since the accident happened
Again, thank you all for your continued prayers and support to Kevin, Tiffany, & their families!

We heard of your accident through mutual friends from Copperhill Comm. Church. Just wanted to let you know, my brother was a patient at Rancho Los Amigos. He was in a serious car accident 15 years ago. He suffered a severe spinal cord injury, and unfortunately extremely severe head and neck trauma. My parents were told there was no way he would live. Then that changed into there’s no way he’ll ever come out of the coma. Once he did they were certain he would never regain use of his legs. Well, today he walks with a walker!
It is a long, hard road, but our God can do anything!
Our prayers are with your family.

Good night son. I know you have had a difficult day with the measuring for your back brace and surgery to your head to reduce the scars from the plastic surgeons. May God watch over you and Tiffany tonight and allow you both to have a peaceful sleep. Your mother and I love you very much and are with you every step of the way. We will get through this challenge together with God’s greatness! You are a strong man and we are very proud of you! Our thanks to the Copper Hill Church group for creating this informative web site to inform Kevin’s and Tiffany’s family and friends of his recovery. God Bless to all. Mark
